This Civil War battlefield used to be a popular destination for the troop. The Battle at Gettysburg is infamous for having the most casualties of any Civil War battle and for being a turning point for the Union in the war. At Gettysburg, the troop hikes twelve miles along the historic trail to earn a patch and medal, as well as to learn about the history of the area. In November 1988, during the 125th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, the troop was able to see a lot of re-enactors marching all over the battlefield. Mr. Moon knew a great deal about Gettysburg’s history and gave the troop a walking tour of the battlefield.
