The troop has visited the steep cliffs of the Palisades alongside the Hudson River since the late-90s/early-00s. The campout usually lasts a full weekend, and the troop would hike alongside the Hudson one day and throughout the Palisades Park the next. The area of the Palisades was famous in the Revolutionary War for being almost a physical, geographical dividing line between Patriots (in favor of the Revolution) and Tories (against Colonial independence; loyal to the British Crown).
