The troop has visited the Lackawanna Coal Mine in Scranton, PA many times over the years. Here, the scouts get a guided tour of the coalmine, going three hundred feet deep beneath the earth’s surface through winding caverns and tunnels to look at the old coalmine originally opened in the mid-1800s. The troop camps nearby in either a heated cabin or tents.
