Welcome!

If you are reading this, it means you are looking at the NEW Troop 236 website. There have been a lot of changes to the new site and added features that never existed before on the Troop website. So it was our idea as the Webmasters to create a comprehensive post/list of all of the neat features on the site so you can find your way around the new troop236bsa.org.

When you log in, you’ll immediately see a Members-Only section labeled “My Stuff.” It looks like this:

Under “My Stuff,” you’ll find an array of useful new tools and information. Starting at the top is the Troop Calendar. This is the latest calendar of events for the Troop. Stay up to date with when campouts and meetings are by checking the Troop Calendar.

If you hover over the calendar, you’ll see the image to the right. Here, you can check out Trip Sign-Ups, Service Hour Opportunities, and Popcorn Sign-Ups.

Under “Trip Sign-Ups,” you will see a list of all of the upcoming trips with a link to sign up for the campout via SignUpGenius. Note: You will NOT be able to pay for the campout via SignUpGenius. Payment for campouts will still be handled in person.

Next are “Service Hour Opportunities.” Here will be a list of available Service Hour Opportunities, as well as a form to complete if you are interested in the Service Hour Opportunities.

Lastly are “Popcorn Show & Sell Sign-Ups,” which will display the available sign-up dates and times when it comes time to sell some popcorn.

Above are the Sign-Up features. Below are the informational sections.

Beginning with the “Scout Report” page under the “My Stuff” menu, we hope to implement this feature in the near future. We are working on being able to display privately to individual users their own (or their son’s) Scout Report, which details the number of camping nights, number of service hours, merit badges, Scout rank, and more that a Scout has. Please keep an eye out for the launch of this feature.

Next is the “Merit Badges” page. This page is a one-stop shop for merit badge-related information, including links to workbooks and merit badge requirements, as well as a list of the required merit badges for Eagle. If you find a merit badge you’d like to work on, feel free to talk to our Scoutmaster to get more information on leaders in our own Troop who teach merit badges.

Lastly is the “Eagle Advisement” page. We want as many Troop 236 Scouts to become Eagle as possible. The Eagle Scout project process can be a bit complex and drawn-out, so we teamed up with the Troop’s star Eagle coach to come up with a list of frequently asked questions to help you along the Eagle process. Some of the questions lay out the timeline and steps you need to take to move along your Eagle process. In addition, helpful links are included to make sure all the resources you need are readily available.

Other, public features include:

  • Our Troop Brochure under the “About” menu,
  • An “In The News” section under the “About” menu,
  • An updated “Links & Resources” page under the “About” menu,
  • Information on the four main High Adventure camps,
  • A sidebar feedback form to easily let the webmaster know of any issues on the site,
  • A Blog section for Scribes, and those working on certain writing/communication merit badges to use for publishing editorial content (such as Troop campout reviews, relevant stories, etc.)

We hope you enjoy the new site and find everything you need to improve your Scouting experience with Troop 236. The tools and resources now available to you will hopefully aid you (or your Scout’s) journey through Boy Scouts and along the Eagle Trail.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please email the Webmasters at webmaster@troop236bsa.org.
